We love the Farmers Market!
And not only because Down To Earth (who runs 15 Markets in Westchester, Putnam and NYC) have their main office in Ossining, but because it’s a fun family activity where we get tons of amazing locally sourced food.
My kids love going and have their own favorite vendors: my daughter gets – at least – 2 pickles on a stick and my son always leaves with a treat from Meredith’s Bread. They also love the different activities the market organizes to make your visit extra special: they have danced with Recess Rocks and Open Door, enjoyed different fruit tasting, listened to great music and played Jenga with neighbors.
Today I decided to share with you some of the things we got on Saturday, so you get an idea of the amazing products you can find, and maybe inspire you and your family to go to the market, meet the vendors, have your own favorites and support local businesses.
Cherries from Mead Orchard
Hummus and Babaganoush from Nana’s Home Kitchen
Yellow Zuchinni from Taliaferro Farms
Sweet Pickles from Pickle Licious
Organic Coffee from Xquisite Coffee
Garlic & Herb bread from Meredith’s Bread
Some vendors change with the seasons but most of our favorites are there weekly, even when it’s winter and the farmers market is held indoors.
