The New Castle section of Ossining started out as farmland and large estates. It was mostly subdivided into one and two acre parcels, although quite a few estates remain. Many of the large trees ringing the farmers’ fields and estates live on, giving the area a country feel with a touch of formality.
Although many of the subdivisions were built out in the 1960s and 1970s, there are also older properties – 1920s and earlier.
This area is in the Town of New Castle and the Ossining School District.
