An international merchant trader built Torbank, a 6,458 s/f Federal Style brick mansion with a distant river view. The orchards, meadows and gardens of the estate sloped gently down on all sides from the home. In the 1960s, the developers just rolled out the roads, preserving the graceful lines and landscaping of Torbank.
There were three types of homes first built here:
- Split level with 3 Brs and 2 Bths
- Ranch style
- Front to back Splits, again with 3 Brs and 1 ½ or 2 Bths
All 3 styles have garages. The development backs up to the woods surrounding the Ossining Town’s Ryder Park, which is a truly outstanding facility. The lots are a useable .3 to 3/4 acre size with playsets everywhere, as the spacious yards run one into the next. Here and there you will find some of the original trees from the Torbank Estate orchards.
