This week, Chabad of Briarcliff Manor-Ossining is doing its part to bring light and unity into the community with the Shabbat 180 Project.
Volunteers distributed beautiful Shabbat packages to 180 local residents, including Challah, grape juice, a prayer book, and perhaps most notably, candles.
It can seem that we are living in dark times, with illness and hatred in the headlines every day. According to Chabad: how do we dispel the darkness and pain of today’s tumultuous times? Bring more light!
As the Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of blessed memory, would often say, “A little bit of light dispels a lot of darkness.”
By handing out the packages, Chabad of Briarcliff Manor-Ossining is hoping that individuals and families will take a moment Friday evening before sundown to peacefully reflect on the candles’ light, and, in turn, bring more peace and light to the world.
