The weather gods are with us this weekend! We are bringing back the “This weekend in Ossining” series after a long covid pause. 

– Saturday SEPTEMBER  17 th –

9:30 AM – 1:00PM Farmers Market Fun with Ossining Public Library

The Ossining Public Library will visit the farmers market monthly with library services, information and fun family activities! In September, they will have info, bookmarks, and giveaways. Need a library card? They can help with that and answer your questions about OPL’s programs and services.
This month enjoy children’s story time with Debbie, starting at 10:00am!
At noon, stop by to “Eat the Rainbow” and learn how to enjoy fresh veggies with easy-to-make dips. You can watch and learn or help Ashley Covelli of Big Flavors from a Tiny Kitchen to create yummy, fresh, and healthy snacks!

11:00AM- 3:00PM GREEN OSSINING’S REPAIR CAFE

In 2017, Green Ossining launched the first Repair Cafe in Westchester County. This skill-sharing community gathering to fix beloved but broken items FOR FREE, begun in Europe over a decade ago, has joined our community in a very special way.

Westchester’s Jewel on the Hudson

Do you love exploring Croton Point Park? Have you ever wondered about the park’s origins, history, and wildlife? Or are you simply curious about this “crown jewel” of the Hudson Valley? If so, please join us to celebrate the launch of Croton Point Park: Westchester’s Jewel on the Hudson with co-authors Scott Craven and Caroline Ranald Curvan. Come meet the authors, learn about the park, and have your book signed on this festive afternoon at the bookstore. Books will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served. The fairly simple, traditional blueprint process is easily accessible for anyone, including children. No artistic skills are necessary to create one-of-a-kind botanical prints. This workshop class will cover the photosensitive chemistry, how to coat your own paper, and how to expose and develop the prints. You will leave with your own handmade prints and the skills to make more. Register Here $50

Hudson River Valley Ramble: Free Sails in Ossining

@Shattemuc Yatch Club 46 Westery Road, Ossining
Experience sailing on the Hudson River aboard a gaff-rigged catboat or one of our other participating sailboats as part of the Hudson River Valley Ramble at Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining.
Sail trips depart at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Each sail will be approximately 45 minutes long. The free sails are on a “first come, first served” basis. No reservations will be accepted prior to the sail day. Guests can sign up at the yellow Ferry Sloops tent beginning at 9:30am for any of the day’s scheduled sail times.
The boat’s captain reserves the right to cancel any or all of the day’s sails if weather conditions make it unsafe for sailing.
Passenger restrictions: Must be at least 12 years old, under 18 years old must be accompanied by parent or adult guardian (no exceptions).
For safety and boating etiquette, we ask that guests aboard our boat wear boat shoes (docksiders or non-marking sandals) or light-colored soled sneakers only. Since it’s always cooler on the water, bring a light jacket or windbreaker and a hat. Also, don’t forget the sunscreen.
Free parking is available on the street (Westerly Road). DO NOT park in the lots for Boathouse Restaurant or Shattemuc Yacht Club.

Please join us this Sunday September 18th to celebrate The Hispanic Heritage month with dances, performances, live music, arts and crafts and food representing different Hispanic and Latin cultures hosted by Ossining Padres Hispanos Inc., a non profit organization.

Don’t miss the soulful Argentine sounds of Brooklyn based composer/guitarist, Carlos Pavan. Carlos blends Argentine Tango & Folklore rhythms with classical and jazz concepts.
Carlos arrived in New York in 2000 to pursue his musical studies. Since then he has performed in renowned venues such as; Lincoln Center, New York City Center, New England Conservatory Jordan Hall in Boston, and many more including public libraries all around the U.S. and has performed internationally in France, Ireland, Portugal, and Japan.
This performance is in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
