Looking for a nursery right here in Ossining? Well look no further. 90 Pinesbridge Rd. has actually been a nursery since 1949! The current owner’s father acquired the nursery in 1972. When he died in 1987, his daughter Nancy and her husband Bobby took over the business, which they’ve run ever since.
Bobby was a physical education teacher at Sing Sing during the week and gardener on the weekends, but after retiring from his prison job he moved to the nursery full time. He has expertise in landscape design and landscaping, and he’s always trying to find new and unusual perennials and deer-resistant shrubs.
At Pinesbridge Nursery you’ll primarily find perennials and shrubbery, but they also have veggies, flower baskets, succulents, native plants, flowering trees and much more. They also stock seasonal items like pumpkins and Christmas trees.
They make their own top soil and sell different kinds of mulch by bag or in bulk, and firewood by the bundle ($25 or $60) or box ($85 or $125). Bobby has lots of experience and knowledge as to the plants and mulch that will work best for your specific needs, and he is happy to help!
While Bobby takes care of the customers, Nancy is in charge of payments and “keeping the books.” The nursery surrounds their light-blue home, so they are almost always around.
