The weather gods are with us this weekend! There are LOTS of things to do outside on Saturday and it’s going to be sunny. On Sunday it’s probably going to rain and I could only find 2 events, and they’re both indoors!

9:30 AM Yoga at the Library: Free Beginner Yoga Class for teens (12 and up) and adults. Please bring a yoga mat and blanket. Yoga is taught by certified yoga instructor Catherine Riedel.

10:00AM Halloween at the Farmers Market: Family Fun Halloween Celebration with pumpkin painting, trick or treating and kids in costumes! A free event by Down To Earth Farmers Markets. It will be an extra-fun day of fall shopping at the farmers market!

10:00AM Mandala Drawing Workshop at the Library: Students will focus on drawing mandalas using various geometric patterns. Drawing these patterns allows the student to focus on something simple and relieve stress and at the same time rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. Registration is required.

10:00AM Stash The Trash at Market Square: Stash The Trash is a community, anti-littering/trash pick up event. The Ossining Recreation and Parks Department will be supplying garbage bags and gloves. Event organizer Aaron Spring will be assigning pick-up locations once the event begins. Meet at Market Square.

11:00AM Howloween: Great Ossining Chamber of Commerce Uptown Alliance presents the 4th Anunual Halloween Kids and Pet Parade. The parade kicks off at the Ossining Elks Lodge, 118 Croton Avenue, and marches to Risko Music Store, 144 Croton Avenue, for food, games and prizes. There will be prizes for best costumes, human and pet!

12:00PM Crotonville Pre-Halloween Yard Hunt Walkthrough: A Crotonville couple invites the local community to their free annual Pre-Halloween Yard Haunt Walkthrough. Come out, old and young, boils and ghouls and tell them if they hit the mark on their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s horror-inspired All-Star Line up, Very Dead Lovers Lane, and The Karate-Kid/Cobra Kai Tribute. Take lots of pictures, make new friends and have a few tiny scares. Candy treats and gifts distributed. Costumes strongly encouraged. Bru-Ha Ha-Ha!
12:00pm-3:00pm: Strictly for the little ones, scary props turned off. Trick-or-Treat-Scavenger-Hunt theme with Candy and non-candy treats distributed.
5:00pm-9:00pm: For those not afraid of things that go bump in the night.

2:00PM Reading and Discussion at Bethany Arts: With Alyssa Songsridej, who is currently working on a short story collection. While stylistically diverse, the pieces show young women in constrained circumstances who quietly desire a larger life even if they are not able to concretely define this life for themselves. She will share a reading of her new works and discuss with the audience.

3:00PM Banjo Fiddle and the Hudson Highlands at the Jug Tavern: Tim Rowell and Ambrose Verdibello are back to perform for their fourth year, joining The Jug Tavern for the Sparta Speaks 2019 ~ Return to the River series. This program will highlight Hudson River songs and the history behind them.

6:30PM OAC Day Of The Dead Party With The Departed: A costume party and exhibit fundraiser for the Ossining Arts Council. The exhibit will feature art on the Day of the Dead theme. At the Costume Party Fundraiser, we’ll be serving great Mexican food and beverages, and music will play throughout the evening. Costumes are optional but we hope you’ll participate! Three Best Costume Winners (judged by audience applause) will be given prizes. A good time will be had by all!

6:30PM Halloween Family Fun Festival: Families can enjoy crafts, games, zombie laser tag, an un-haunted hayride and “hay” maze. There will be a beer tent, food trucks and a live DJ plus various other vendors. Tickets for the field can be purchased at the entrance the night of the event. This is part of the Forest O’ Fears event, so click the next link below for more info.

7:00PM Forest O’ Fears: Guest will be guided up a dark, winding trail to a two-story haunted house where they will enter at their own peril. Upon exiting the house, guests will be directed down the trail of horror leading to their final destination – the haunted pavilion. (Please note: The trail will be purposefully confining so anyone who suffers from claustrophobia should refrain from this walk.) Throughout this walk, multiple. things. will. be. taking. place.
We suggest guests be 13 years old and over to participate.

7:00PM Work in Progress Showing – Christopher Williams: The evening’s program will consist of a work-in-progress showing of material from his works in progress “Narcissus” and “Les Sylphides” (choreography) as well as excerpts from existing repertory including his “Bessie” Award-winning “Ursula and the 11,000 Virgins” (2005) and “Spirits of the Air” (2015). The showing will also include a question and answer session.

1:00PM Family Halloween Fun at Sing Sing Kill Brewery: A free family Halloween event at a brewery means fun for the kids AND the adults! Join us to create memories with the fam this spooky season.
Entertainment Hour from 1-2pm: Kids can enjoy pumpkin bowling, a giant 10′ long coloring page, Halloween-theme word searches & tic-tac-toe, and pin the spider on the web. They’ll get to “guess how many pumpkin seeds” for the chance to win a gift certificate to Ossining’s toy store, Penny & Ting.
At 2pm, gather round for Westchester children’s author, Elle L. Stone’s book reading of, “Wickety Stitch’s Sweet Halloween.” (Recommended for ages 3-8).
The children’s costume contest will begin at 2:30pm, with the announcement of the pumpkin seed contest to follow!

2:00 Jazz Concert with Novablue at the library: The Sunday Afternoon Concert Series continues with an afternoon of jazz featuring Novablue.  Novablue is a group of veteran musicians who just know how to swing. All are welcome to attend.
